Project Overview

Located in Falls Church, Virginia, this basement remodel was designed to transform an underused lower level into a vibrant recreational destination for family gatherings and entertaining friends. The homeowners envisioned a space that felt connected, social, and purposeful—centered around a custom wet bar that keeps hosts engaged in the action rather than tucked away from it.

The bar layout was intentionally open to the surrounding game and TV areas, allowing those serving drinks to interact easily with guests while still enjoying game-day views. A built-in dual-tap kegerator reflects the homeowners’ love of draft beer, while thoughtfully integrated appliances—including a refrigerator and dedicated ice maker—ensure the space functions seamlessly during gatherings.

Rich espresso-toned maple cabinetry grounds the design, paired with a striking glass and slate linear mosaic backsplash that introduces texture and subtle movement. Storage was carefully planned below the bar to keep surfaces clear and organized, incorporating drawers, shelving, and a built-in wine rack for effortless entertaining. Granite countertops in Bianco Romano add durability and a timeless finish, complementing the modern yet inviting aesthetic.

The adjacent basement bathroom continues the refined look with a contemporary teak vanity in an ash blonde finish, paired with clean-lined chrome fixtures. Large-format floor tiles in a running brick pattern create visual continuity and durability, while the shower walls feature vertically installed matte white subway tile for a fresh, elongated look. A contrasting vertical accent stripe in a soft neutral tone adds understated interest without overwhelming the space.

Together, the remodeled basement delivers a cohesive, welcoming environment—one that balances recreation, comfort, and thoughtful design, making it a true extension of the home’s entertaining spaces.
