Fairfax Station Whole House Remodel + Artist-Inspired Living

This whole-house remodel in Fairfax Station, VA (Crosspointe neighborhood) transformed a builder-grade home into a light-filled, art-inspired retreat perfectly tailored for family life and long-term living. Purchased to remain close to her granddaughters, the client wanted a home that balanced comfort, creativity, and entertaining.

Main-Level Transformation

The front living room became a cozy sitting area with custom built-ins for books and artwork. An open-riser staircase with vertical rods allows natural light to flow from back to front. Walls were removed to expand the kitchen, art studio, and dining areas, creating a bright, connected layout. The kitchen now features dark gray perimeter cabinets, a white oak island, quartz countertops, open shelving, and a prep sink area for art projects. The former dining room became a playful eat-in nook with a custom bay window bench for storage.

Upper-Level Reconfiguration

Upstairs, four bedrooms were reimagined as two spacious primary suites. The main suite includes a sitting room that doubles as a bedroom for granddaughters, a spa-like bathroom with soaking tub, walk-in shower, heated tile floors, and ample storage. The second suite serves as a comfortable guest retreat.

Craftsmanship + Functionality

A step-down art studio was raised to align with the main floor, improving flow. Custom cabinetry, a sculptural staircase, and open sightlines throughout the home create a cohesive and visually striking environment. Every space now reflects the client’s style while supporting creativity, comfort, and family gatherings.
