Project Overview
This Fairfax, VA family of four loves to entertain but found their old kitchen too cramped to comfortably host friends and family. The lack of flow between the kitchen, family room, and living room made gatherings feel more like work than fun. Their goal was to enlarge the kitchen to create a welcoming, functional space that connects seamlessly with both family and entertaining areas—while also gaining better organization, including an expanded master closet and a more efficient mudroom and laundry setup.
The new design opens the kitchen into three distinct zones, optimizing movement between the living and family rooms. Warm Crystal Current base cabinets in Toasted Rye with a Black Highlight complement Simply White upper cabinets, creating a balanced contrast that feels both cozy and sophisticated. Blue Dunes polished granite countertops add striking natural texture and durability, while the Maniscalco Pibara Habitat glazed ceramic tile above the range and Aevum White Ornato raised-pattern ceramic tiles above the sink bring artisanal charm and subtle visual interest.
High-performance stainless steel appliances, including a GE Café double oven range, Frigidaire refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher, and Danby Silhouette beverage fridge, ensure this kitchen performs as beautifully as it looks. The result is a thoughtfully designed space perfect for everyday family life and effortless entertaining.
