Project Overview

This Fairfax, VA kitchen remodel transformed an outdated and restrictive layout into a spacious, highly functional kitchen designed for everyday living and entertaining. The original kitchen felt tight and closed off, with a peninsula separating the eat-in area from the rest of the space and limiting both circulation and workspace.

Through thoughtful reconfiguration, the kitchen was completely reimagined to create a more open and efficient layout. The design introduces a large central island, providing generous preparation space, casual seating, and a natural gathering point for family and guests.

A walk-in pantry was incorporated to improve organization and storage, while a dedicated coffee bar with floating shelves and accent lighting creates a convenient daily-use feature and an attractive focal point within the kitchen.

One of the primary design challenges was the location of a central HVAC system that limited the desired kitchen configuration. By dividing the system into two units, the design team gained the flexibility needed to reposition the refrigerator, add the walk-in pantry, and create the island that was central to the homeowners’ vision.

The result is a beautifully updated kitchen that balances functionality, storage, and welcoming design, making cooking, gathering, and entertaining far more enjoyable.
