KITCHEN REMODEL
ROCKVILLE, MD
These homeowners desired an updated kitchen to compliment the contemporary feel of the rest of their home.
By extending the island and reconfiguring their kitchen layout, they now have a contemporary kitchen for hosting their large family with excellent flow and ease of use.
Here’s a walk through their kitchen renovation:
The homeowner wanted cabinetry and countertops that didn’t appear frequently dirty. Often cooking with spices such as cumin, they wanted a non-black or white color.
Adding bamboo cabinetry with clean lines and a lighter wood palate contribute to less visibility and an easier cleanup than shaker cabinets. A small drawer was added beneath a the new window seat for extra storage.
This niche was underutilized and outdated. Adding contrasting wood tones across the cabinets’ ceiling with recessed spotlights frame the area and make the cabinet wood color pop.
Superior craftsmanship was utilized to create clean lines throughout the space. The new cabinet doors were elongated, producing a modern look and minimizing the need for hardware on the cabinet fronts.
Expanding the kitchen island was a must. The homeowners needed more storage space, and wanted an island large enough to display an arrangement of party platters for entertaining.
Now a central gathering area for socializing, drawers were added for storage and a cooktop was integrated into the large island giving the homeowner the ability to serve warm food directly from the island.
