Project Overview

This McLean, VA basement remodel was designed to transform previously unfinished areas into a warm, inviting environment where the entire family can relax, play, and spend meaningful time together. The new layout brings together dedicated zones for lounging, gaming, and creative activities, creating a multifunctional lower level that feels both intentional and comfortable.

The lounge area anchors the space with custom cabinetry in a rich raisin stain, crafted in premium alder with a classic Carlton door style. Built-in TV furniture provides ample storage while maintaining a furniture-like presence. A quartz-topped seating bar adds functionality and visual interest, featuring Silestone in Mediterranean Ocean with a clean, standard edge profile. Underfoot, durable luxury vinyl flooring in a Waterfront Oak tone runs throughout the basement and bathroom, offering the look of natural wood with added resilience for active family use.

Texture and dimension were introduced through a striking accent wall, featuring sculptural Soelbera panels. Reclaimed, weathered wood niches add depth and character, creating display moments that enhance the cozy, layered feel of the space.

The wet bar area was designed as a natural gathering point for entertaining and everyday use. Matching cabinetry ties seamlessly into the lounge, while a standout walnut countertop with a live-edge profile brings warmth and organic contrast. A sleek stainless steel bar faucet completes the space, balancing rustic materials with modern functionality.

The adjacent powder room continues the refined yet approachable aesthetic. A classic white pedestal sink pairs with a brushed nickel single-hole faucet, keeping the space bright, timeless, and easy to maintain—perfect for guests and family alike.
