Project Overview

This basement remodeling project in Leesburg, Virginia transformed a disjointed lower level into a welcoming, multifunctional retreat designed around the homeowners’ lifestyle. The original basement had been divided into highly specific, awkward spaces by the previous owners, including a raised performance stage for children and a dedicated dog kennel room. While functional at one time, these features limited flexibility and flow for the new family.

By removing the stage and enclosed kennel area, the space was reimagined into a series of intimate yet connected zones that support both everyday living and entertaining. The finished basement now includes a comfortable formal sitting area, a dedicated home theater for movie nights, a game space centered around a pool table, and a custom bar that anchors the entertaining experience.

The full bar area serves as a focal point, featuring custom Shiloh cabinetry crafted in maple with a rich Cayenne finish. Square raised-panel doors and clean slab drawer fronts create a timeless look, while soft-close, full-extension hardware enhances everyday usability. The cabinetry profile adds subtle architectural detail without overpowering the space.

Topping the bar is a polished natural stone surface in Verde Butterfly, selected for its dramatic movement and depth of color. An eased edge detail keeps the look refined and approachable, allowing the materials to shine without distraction. Together, the finishes bring warmth, durability, and sophistication to a basement designed for gathering, relaxing, and making memories.
