A Dream Country-Inspired Home in Fairfax, VA

Our clients envisioned a home that honored their childhood memories of a wrap-around porch and a deep connection to the outdoors. Their split-foyer home in Fairfax, Virginia, has been completely transformed into a stunning country-inspired traditional home, combining timeless charm with modern luxury.

Expansive Third-Floor Art Studio

As an artist, the client collaborated closely with our design-build remodeling firm to raise the roof and create a bright third-floor art studio. This airy, sun-filled space offers inspiring views of the surrounding woods, making it the perfect sanctuary for painting and creativity.

Vaulted Kitchen with “Treehouse” Effect

The new vaulted kitchen features a striking glass wall, suspended by steel I-beams, which creates a dramatic “treehouse effect.” Elevated nearly two stories above the ground, this Northern Virginia luxury kitchen remodel connects the indoor space with the forested outdoors, offering a sense of serenity and openness. The kitchen cabinets, crafted from natural hickory with Crystal Keyline’s Country Classic full-overlay doors, pair beautifully with Level 3 granite countertops and backsplash, delivering a sophisticated yet warm aesthetic.

Elevated Primary Suite

Above the garage, a new primary suite offers a private retreat with luxury finishes, including a master bathroom outfitted with Wheaton Rustic Cherry cabinetry, Level 2 granite countertops, and Kohler Revival fixtures in brushed nickel. Every detail was thoughtfully selected to combine function, comfort, and style.

Interior Finishes

• Flooring: 2-1/4″ Oak strip flooring on first floor and loft with a single coat of stain and two coats of poly, creating a durable and elegant surface.

• Deck and Porch: Wood decking aligned straight perpendicular to framing; the porch features PT 1×4 T&G flooring and painted details.

• Bathrooms: Guest and loft bathrooms feature custom tile and granite countertops, Kohler and ProFlo fixtures, and frameless glass enclosures.

• Stair Railing: Unfinished oak railings, newels, and balusters by Hayes Stairs for a classic, cohesive look throughout the home.

• Siding & Trim: Primed HardiePlank siding with Arctic White ColorPlus finish, complemented by smooth HardieTrim corner boards, window/door trim, and band boards.

• Roof & Ceilings: CertainTeed Landmark architectural shingles in Moire Black, with beaded Hem-Fir porch ceilings for an authentic country charm.

The home’s wrap-around porch, decks, and elevated views create a seamless connection with nature. Custom porch columns with Tuscan caps, composite pine railings, and smooth finishes enhance the home’s country-inspired elegance.
