Project Overview

When our clients in Alexandria, VA decided to remodel, they had six kids and a deep love for their home, but knew it was time for upgrades and expansions to live comfortably. They envisioned a connected, beautiful, and functional space that kept the kitchen as the central hub of daily life.

To achieve this, we expanded the kitchen into the unused formal dining room and reconfigured the surrounding living space for seamless flow. The laundry room was relocated to remain separate yet easily accessible, ensuring household chores never interrupt family activities. The kitchen is now more than twice its original size, filled with natural light, and perfectly connected to the rest of the home.

The kitchen cabinetry is by Fabuwood, featuring framed ½” select veneer plywood in a soft Dove finish with Fusion-style doors and 5-piece drawer fronts. Drawers are solid wood dovetail with Tandem Plus Blumotion full-extension concealed runners for premium functionality.

Countertops are Fantasy Brown and New River White granite with eased edges, paired with a Delta Emmeline pull-down kitchen and prep faucet in Lumicoat Champagne Bronze. The backsplash combines Retrospace ½x12 Jolly Glossy tiles in Modern White with elongated hexagon accent tiles for subtle texture and visual interest.

Flooring was sanded and finished in place for continuity across the main level. High-end appliances include a Fulgor Milano 36″ all-gas range, Bosch 24″ 500 Series dishwasher, and Frigidaire Professional 19 cu. ft. single-door refrigerator, all in stainless steel.

The remodel also added a wet bar and mudroom, enhancing storage and accessibility, while moving the wood-burning fireplace to the front of the home elevated the entryway’s aesthetic. The result is a bright, functional, and stylish kitchen and main-level living space tailored for large families and entertaining in Alexandria, VA.
