Christian Varela joined Sun Design Remodeling in 2024 as an Architectural Designer, bringing nearly 19 years of experience in residential design and construction. With a background that spans new home construction, multi-family, and commercial projects, Christian offers clients both creative insight and a deep understanding of how homes are thoughtfully built.

What drew him to Sun Design was simple: “Sun Design has an impressive body of work—who wouldn’t want to be a part of a firm doing consistently amazing work?” Today, he applies that same standard of excellence to every project, whether it’s a renovation, addition, or full home transformation.

Christian works closely with the design team to reimagine how homeowners’ spaces look, feel, and function. His design process begins by listening. “My goal is to understand how the client lives, help identify what isn’t working, and create thoughtful solutions that balance structure, aesthetics, and budget.” He then translates those ideas into clear, code-compliant designs that guide projects smoothly from concept through construction.

Holding an Associate’s degree in Architecture from Northern Virginia Community College, Christian also brings hands-on remodeling experience from operating his own business focused on kitchens, bathrooms, and interior renovations. This real-world perspective allows him to anticipate challenges early, communicate effectively with the build team, and ensure every detail supports a successful outcome.

What Christian enjoys most about remodeling at Sun Design is the creativity. “The work here is always unique—no client asks for ‘the same as my neighbor.’ Creativity and innovation are essential to every project, and that makes the work both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating.” He also credits Sun Design’s leadership and team culture as a defining strength, noting that the collaboration and clarity of the process give clients confidence every step of the way. “I’ve never seen a client confused about what’s happening or what comes next. That clarity builds trust.”

Outside of work, Christian enjoys photography, archery, fishing, football, and spending time outdoors. A fun fact clients may appreciate: he has a collection of luchador masks and learned the hard way that Buckingham Palace has a no-luchador-mask photo policy—an unforgettable story that reflects Christian’s creative spirit and sense of humor.
